CityCenter Green transforms into a celebration of Ecuadorian culture on Saturday, August 8, running into Sunday, August 9, with live music, traditional food, and dance performances that spill out across the green. It's free and open to everyone, rain or shine.

Saturday, August 8 — New Milford Concerts on the Green continues on the Town Green with another free show starting at 7 p.m., part of this year's five-night series featuring acts like Ace & Friends and the Buena Vista Band. Tucked into the center of Sherman on Route 37 sits a place that's easy to drive past and impossible to forget once you've stepped inside: The Old Store Museum & Gift Shop, run by the Sherman Historical Society.
The building dates back to before 1829, when it served as the town's general mercantile — and it's been a store, in one form or another, ever since. Half the space is a museum, with antique ice boxes, an old penny scale, and displays tracing Sherman's history back to before Candlewood Lake even existed. The other half is a genuinely great little gift shop, entirely volunteer-run, stocked with everything from scarves and jewelry to household goods and local keepsakes. Every purchase supports the Historical Society's work preserving Sherman's history.
It's the kind of stop that turns a quick errand into a twenty-minute wander through the past — well worth a visit next time you're near the lake.
